Het Langhuis, Zwolle
THEN-40-NOW : 86-26
Het Langhuis brings together artists of the past and present
On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of art centre Het Langhuis, the exhibition THEN-40-NU : 86-26 is on view from October 3 to 25.
Six artists who exhibited at Het Langhuis between 1983 and 1986 return to the place where, for many of them, one of their first exhibitions took place. Alongside a work from that period, they show recent work. In this way, a picture emerges of their artistic development and of the changes in the art climate then and now.
The exhibition aligns with an important principle of Het Langhuis from the 1980s: the exchange between regional and national artists.
Participating artists:
Jan Teun van Rees (Amsterdam), Bernard Divendal (Groningen), Anne Kreiter (Zwolle), Ans Verdijk (Beugen, Gelderland), Helma Veugen (Eindhoven) and Cor Dera (Rotterdam).
Opening
The exhibition will be opened on Saturday, October 3 at 3:00 PM by Peter Geerts, visual artist and curator of the exhibition. Geerts was a member of the exhibition committee of Het Langhuis at the time.
Sunday afternoon concert
On Sunday, October 25, the exhibition concludes with a Sunday afternoon concert organized by Erik Raayman and Jan Gerritsen. Sunday afternoon concerts were a regular feature of Het Langhuis's program in the 1980s.
